Iowa City Police say a man found a credit card that had been left in an ATM and used it to purchase over $110 in beer.

According to arrest records, 40-year-old Joachim Kambale of Broadway Street found a debit card that had been left in the MidWestOne Bank ATM on Keokuk Street at approximately 5:30 last Thursday night. Police say Kambale used the card to purchase $44.53 worth of gas at the Kwik Star across the street at 10:44pm. He then allegedly went to Hawkeye Tobacco and Liquor down the block on Hollywood Boulevard and purchased $71.28 worth of Corona and Heineken just before 11pm. He then reportedly returned to the same liquor store less than a half-hour later and purchased another $39.34 in Corona and Heineken, making his total purchases there with the stolen credit card $110.62 in beer.

Kambale was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 9:00 Sunday night and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.

Police allege Kambale admitted to using the card, and they say he was in possession of it at the time of his arrest.
