Police say an armed subject was found trespassing at a Coralville apartment complex late Monday night.

Coralville Police were called to an apartment building on Boston Way just after 11:30pm for a subject who was not to be on the property. The caller said they tried to get the man to exit his vehicle, but he refused.

The man reportedly finally exited the car and fled on foot when approached by police. Investigators say he threw a firearm as he ran before he was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Trevon Stephenson of Hiawatha. Police say Stephenson showed signs of intoxication and had 18 grams of what was believed to be marijuana on his person.

Stephenson is charged with Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interference With Official Acts, Trespassing, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 27 months in jail.
