An Iowa City Police investigation into one burglary case has led to an arrest in an unrelated burglary case.

According to arrest records, officers were completing an investigation into a burglary and credit card fraud case when they came across video evidence of 59-year-old Richard Feldhacker of Davenport breaking into a car parked outside Top Shape Gym on 1st Avenue just after 11:15am on May 31st. The video reportedly shows Feldhacker parking his 2015 Ford Escape next to another parked car, then walking up to a passenger window, which was later found to be broken. Security video from the Scott Court Casey’s taken less than a half-hour after the burglary reportedly shows Feldhacker driving the same vehicle, then using stolen credit and/or debit cards inside the convenience store to purchase almost $200 in beverages and lottery tickets and over $47 in gas.

Feldhacker is now charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, Forgery or Theft of Lottery Tickets, and two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Feldhacker has a previous burglary conviction from Muscatine County in 2004.
