An Oxford man was charged with his third OWI earlier this week after an incident on Interstate 380.
A trooper was getting on the northbound portion of the road just north of Interstate 80 when he noticed two vehicles behind him. One was a white Chevy Colorado that was swerving and unable to maintain its lane. The other vehicle pulled up next to the officer and flagged him down. Once pulled over, the driver of the other vehicle told the trooper that the Chevy driver had been swerving all over the road and needed to be stopped.
The trooper was able to pull the Chevy over at the top of the Forevergreen Road off-ramp. The driver, 31-year-old Michael Brack, allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of ingested alcohol. After showing impairment on field tests, a PBT showed his blood-alcohol level to be .164 percent. A subsequent Datamaster reading showed it at .168 percent.
A check of Brack’s driving record showed two previous convictions for OWI, in 2017 and 2021 in Johnson County. He was charged with a third offense, a Class D felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.
