An Iowa City man who was driving well below the speed limit in Coralville was allegedly found to be behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.
Police stopped 50-year-old Eugene Carr of Muscatine Avenue at around 12:30 am Wednesday on the 300 block of First Avenue. The speed limit on that section of the road is 35 miles an hour; Carr was reportedly creeping along at just 10 miles per hour.
A check of the vehicle’s identification number showed it to be stolen.
The 2020 Sym moped has a value of $1200.
Carr was arrested and charged with 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
