Cedar Rapids Police investigating Wednesday afternoon shots fired incident

Cedar Rapids Police are seeking information about a Wednesday afternoon shots-fired incident.

According to a release from the city, police received a report of shots fired in the 4000 block of Richmond Road NE at 4:41pm  Officers arrived on scene and witnesses described three minor males involved in an altercation that ended in a single gunshot being fired. The individuals fled before officers arrived.

Out of an abundance of caution, Noelridge Pool was secured by staff, and swimmers were taken into safe housing on-site until given the all-clear.  The pool reopened at 6:30 for normal operations.

No injuries or property damage was reported. Officers are asking witnesses to come forward with information about this incident.  This appears to have been a targeted event and there is no evident threat of public safety.
