A North Liberty man has been given a life prison sentence for a Benton County murder.
39-year-old Tacoa Talley was found guilty of 1st Degree Murder in April. Talley and his girlfriend, Samantha Bevans, were accused of suffocating Bevans’ stepmother, Jodie Bevans, in her Palo home last July by holding a pillow over her face. Two days later, Talley and Samantha Bevans made a Snapchat video where they admitted to committing the crime. In the video, Samantha Bevans says, “I killed her. I killed her myself,” as Talley says “And I knew this would happen, so good job.”
The couple reportedly committed the murder in order to get at money that they believed was in the family’s home safe.
Samantha Bevans is to be tried separately in Benton County District Court beginning September 25th.
