Iowa City Police are seeking new leads in a two-year-old homicide case.
45-year-old Frederick Rumble was killed on May 16th, 2021. At 1:20 that morning, Iowa City Police responded to the area of Sandusky Drive and Taylor Drive for multiple reports of shots fired. Responding officers located a vehicle in the 1300 Block of Bancroft Drive that had crashed into a tree.
Rumble, the driver of the vehicle, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Since Rumble’s death, Iowa City Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses and served more than 50 search warrants. Despite those efforts, no criminal charges have been filed in the case.
Investigators are continuing to seek information from anyone with knowledge of the incident and ask that they contact the Iowa City Police Department or Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers. Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about Rumble’s death that leads to an arrest. Individuals providing information are not required to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
