A West Branch woman reportedly involved in a domestic incident was charged with OWI and drug possession.
The incident occurred at the South Gilbert Street Kum & Go at approximately 10pm Tuesday. Officers made contact 26-year-old Rebecca Holmes who had driven there after police were dispatched to a domestic incident in progress. Upon arrival, Holmes was in a vehicle in the parking lot, and reportedly showed signs of intoxication. Officers noted bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, impaired balance and a strong odor of ingested alcohol. After field tests allegedly showed measurable impairment, Holmes provided a PBT showing her blood-alcohol level over the legal limit to operate a vehicle. A subsequent Datamaster showed her level at .170 percent.
A check of Holmes’ driving record showed her license status as revoked for OWI test refusal until January 2024.
During a probable cause search of her vehicle, officers found quantities of marijuana and suspected methamphetamine.
Holmes was arrested and charged with 2nd offense OWI, Driving while Revoked, and two Controlled Substance violations. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
