A North Liberty man wanted on a domestic assault charge faces additional charges after drugs were reportedly found in his vehicle.

According to police, 28-year-old Clarence Jackson of Holiday Lodge Road and his intimate partner do not live together, but he is reportedly at the woman’s Iowa City apartment almost every day, and has previously damaged her residence during incidents between them.

On April 30th at approximately 4:15 am, Jackson and the victim were in an altercation when he shoved her into a mirror, causing multiple lacerations to her arms. She ultimately had to be treated at a hospital for her injuries, and Jackson had fled before police arrived.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Jackson was located early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Keokuk Street and Cross Park Avenue.  Police say his Ford Expedition allegedly contained marijuana, methamphetamine and a digital scale.  Jackson reportedly gave officers multiple false names before they were able to positively identify him and discover his driving status as barred and revoked.

Jackson faces a Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury charge for the April 30th incident. He also faces a Controlled Substance violation, Driving While Barred, Failure to affix Drug Stamp, 3rd offense Marijuana Possession, 3rd offense Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to over 20 years in prison.
