An area man was arrested on a warrant stemming from a domestic assault that occurred in March.

According to the incident report, 37-year-old Donald Martin was at the residence of the victim the morning of March 22nd and allegedly pulled up the stairs by her hair and reportedly said, “I’m going back to jail today.” He reportedly punched her in the face several times in front of the woman’s 7-year-old daughter, who tried to block Martin’s punches.

The woman ran from the house, followed by Martin, where the fight continued.  A neighbor reportedly observed Martin grabbing the victim by the arm, and the woman asked him to call police for her. Martin then reportedly left the area on foot.

The woman complained of head pain due to the hair pulling. She told police that the two had previously were in a cohabitating intimate relationship within the past year, but Martin did not reside there currently. A no-contact order was issued on September 17th, 2022.

A warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest, and he was taken to the Johnson County Jail on Sunday evening. He’s been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and Child Endangerment. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail.
