An Iowa City armed robbery suspect who was given a deferred judgement in a plea deal earlier this year has been arrested again after police say she gave a firearm to a convicted felon.

Iowa City Police say 30-year-old Marcia Smith Buckhalter, who lists her address as Shelter House, purchased a Canik 9mm pistol last year. That gun was reportedly found in the possession of Smith Buckhalter’s boyfriend, a convicted felon, on April 30th. Police say Smith Buckhalter told them she sold the gun to an unknown person. She had previously been accused of providing her boyfriend with a gun last year.

Investigators say they have video of the boyfriend firing the gun at a gun range.

Smith Buckhalter is charged with Prohibited Transfer of a Firearm to an Unauthorized Person. If convicted she faces a maximum of five years in prison.

In January, Smith Buckhalter was given a deferred judgment after she and her boyfriend were accused of robbing a man at gunpoint at their then- Shamrock Place residence after luring him there to smoke marijuana last summer.
