A University of Iowa student who was allegedly intoxicated while downtown late Wednesday night was arrested after being found with a fake ID.

According to police, the student was observed by officers sitting on a bicycle outside of Pancheros before  2:15 am Thursday.  The bike was reportedly owned by a staff member, who asked the student to get off. The student reportedly refused, which got officers involved.

The man was observed with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of ingested alcohol.  When asked for ID, he allegedly handed them a completely fictitious license and claimed it was his ID.

The student was taken into custody and charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Fictitious ID. Later in the day, the student was released on his own recognizance pending further legal proceedings. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
