Cedar Rapids Police investigating Wednesday night homicide

Cedar Rapids Police are seeking the public’s help with information relating to a homicide that occurred in the city earlier this week.

The Department says officers responded to a disturbance call just after 10 pm Wednesday on the 3500 block of Oakland Road Northeast. Callers to 911 reported hearing one gunshot. Upon arrival, they found a 17-year-old boy with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso.

The victim was treated on-scene and transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. He has since been identified as Christian Upah of Marion.

Investigators are asking for anyone with video of the area in that time frame to contact police at 319-286-5491. They’re also asking for witnesses to come forward with any information relating to the incident.
