Allegedly breaking into an apartment to fight one of its occupants has led to a burglary charge against an Iowa City man.

20-year-old Michael Morrow of Westwinds Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail last month on a separate domestic abuse charge. Iowa City Police now say Morrow was additionally charged for an April 13th incident on Roberts Road. According to arrest records, Morrow attempted to enter an apartment occupied by two people. When he was refused entry through the door, he allegedly went to the living room window, where he reportedly tried to coax one of the occupants outside to fight.

Police say when that didn’t happen, Morrow broke in through the window and forced his way into the apartment. He allegedly fought with one of the occupants before being restrained.

A criminal complaint was filed last Friday, and Morrow is now charged with 2nd Degree Burglary. If convicted, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
