The search committee for the new Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine has selected two finalists for the position.

The Iowa Now website reports the candidates will visit campus on May 1st and May 8th to participate in open forums and meet with faculty, staff, students, shared governance, and campus leadership.

The name of each candidate will be announced 24 hours before their open forum.

The search was restarted after four finalists were selected last year and their selected candidate turned down the job. The search committee dismissed the other three candidates and started over.

Matthew Howard, chair and department executive officer of the Department of Neurosurgery, and Edith Parker, dean of the College of Public Health, were named in December as co-chairs of the search committee to replace Brooks Jackson, who announced his intention to return to a faculty position back in February 2022 once a successor was chosen.
