An Iowa City man faces intoxication and harassment charges after causing a disturbance at his residence last week.

Police were called the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue just before 11pm April 19th for the second time on reports of a man breaking items and yelling racial epithets.  Upon arrival, 42-year-old Bradley Pechman was reportedly heard breaking items in the residence. Upon contact, he showed signs of intoxication including bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, poor balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol.

When Pechman walked into the common area of the apartment building, he was informed that he was under arrest.  He then reportedly attempted to slam a door in the officer’s face. Pechman was handcuffed and taken to a squad car to be transported to jail.

Pechman added to his charges while he was sitting in the back of the squad car at the jail waiting to be processed by stating he was going to kill the officer.

He’s been charged with Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Interference with Official Acts and 1st degree Harassment. If convicted on all counts, Pechman could be sentenced to up to 27 months in jail.
