Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say was involved in a shooting earlier this month that left one person injured.

27-year-old Stephan Williams of Taylor Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 10:15 Saturday night. Police say Williams and an unnamed co-defendant forced their way into a Broadway Street apartment around 10:30pm on April 12th and confronted one of its residents about a property damage issue. During the altercation, the co-defendant allegedly shot the victim.

Iowa City Police learned of the incident when the victim self-reported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.

Williams was taken into custody on Taylor Drive just before 6:45 Saturday night after a traffic stop for Driving While Revoked. Police say they noticed Williams throw an object onto the ground as he exited his 2012 Lincoln MKZ. The object was determined to be marijuana, and investigators say Williams and his car both reeked of the drug.

Williams is charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Driving While Revoked and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 27 years in prison.
