Family and friends held a vigil at the Iowa City Ped Mall Tuesday as authorities continue their search for a missing Muscatine man who was visiting friends in the city over the weekend.
20-year-old Cristian Martinez was reportedly last seen in the alley behind Bardot Iowa, 347 S. Gilbert St., around 1 a.m. Saturday. Martinez’ phone died earlier in the evening and his loved ones have been unable to reach him.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Iowa City Police Department said the biggest concern is his proximity to the Iowa River. Drones and boats have been deployed to search for Martinez.
The family is planning to hire a private investigator to help in the search and has set up a GoFundMe account under Martinez Familiy Relief. Over $4300 has been raised so far.
