Tiffin fire displaces 17

A Monday afternoon fire displaced 17 Tiffin residents.
According to a post on the Tiffin Fire Department’s Facebook page, they were dispatched to a house fire on the 200 block of Bainberry Street at approximately 5pm.
One resident was trapped on the roof with their dog. Neighbors and bystanders assisted with getting the victim and the dog to safety. The victim was checked out by Johnson County Ambulance paramedics.
Five dogs and two cats were rescued from the fire. They were taken to a vet for evaluation.
The fire was contained in about an hour, but crews remained on scene until about 9 pm. Two units suffered heavy fire damage while four other units had minimal damage and smoke.
17 occupants were displaced due to the fire and were receiving assistance from the Red Cross Monday night. No injuries or casualties were reported, and cause of the fire has been ruled as “undetermined.”
