A North Liberty woman was arrested over the weekend on a warrant stemming from a child endangerment incident in February.

Police reports indicate that 32-year-old Kristina Butler and another person became intoxicated the evening of February 28th. Butler then reportedly left her two minor children in the care of the other person.

Officers were requested to do a welfare check by the children’s aunt. They allegedly found the adult caring for the children heavily intoxicated and asleep, while the children were still awake and unsupervised.  Both children stated to police that they were not okay and scared, which is why they called their aunt.

A warrant was issued, and Butler was booked at the Johnson County Jail Friday night. She’s been charged with two counts of Child Endangerment, and could be sentenced to up to four years in jail if convicted.
