Iowa City Casey’s employee shot after being assaulted

Iowa City Police are investigating a reported shooting at the Casey’s on Scott Court.

Online records show officers were called to the convenience store just after 7:15 Saturday night for a subject who had been shot. Investigation into the matter determined a woman working at the store was approached by two customers. During the interaction, the customers assaulted the woman and all three exited the store. As they were exiting, one of the customers pulled out a handgun and shot the woman.

The woman suffered a minor injury and the suspects left the area on foot.

This incident is under active investigation and no other information is available at this time.

This incident is being actively investigated by the Iowa City Police Department and we are asking the public for assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
