Iowa City Police describe a suspect who reportedly tried to fight random bystanders as “frothing at the mouth”.
Officers were called to the 300 block of East Bloomington Street at 11:30 Wednesday afternoon for a male subject screaming at passersby and attempting to fight them.
Arriving police say the suspect, 54-year-old David Martyn of East Davenport Street, was “clearly intoxicated”, belligerent and incoherent. Arrest records describe Martyn as “frothing at the mouth”. He reportedly had to be taken into custody by force.
Martyn is charged with Public intoxication and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 60 days in jail.
Martyn was wanted by police for skipping a pretrial conference on an Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations charge after he allegedly kicked a police officer during an arrest last year.
