An Iowa City woman faces a felony and a child endangerment charge after a two-vehicle accident near River Junction.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Sand Road and Highway 22 just after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. An investigation determined that 20-year-old Jennifer Haman of Pepperwood Lane rear-ended another vehicle while her one-year-old child was in the car. Haman suffered minor injuries. The child was unharmed.

Deputies say Haman smelled strongly of ingested alcohol and marijuana. She reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and registered a breath alcohol level of .035%.

Results of urine tests Haman’s family sent to KCJJ show negative results for alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and opiates, but a “presumptive positive” result for marijuana.

Haman’s license is currently suspended. She’s charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd or Subsequent Offense and Child Endangerment. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
