An Iowa City man released from jail last week broke his No-Contact order over a dozen times just hours after being set free.

According to police, 38-year-old Bryant Welch has a no-contact order prohibiting him from contacting the victim.  He was released from the Johnson County Jail just before 8pm on March 24th. The woman victim stated that Welch called her 17 times between within a three-hour period immediately after release.

During the calls, Welch allegedly described what the woman was doing, as if he was lurking outside her residence and watching her.

A warrant was requested for Welch’s arrest; he was taken into custody Thursday afternoon and charged with 3rd degree Harassment, a simple misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to 30 days. He was also charged with Contempt for violating the no-contact order. Another no-contact order was requested by the victim.
