A former Iowa State football player has entered a guilty plea to charges he assaulted former Iowa basketball player Jordan Bohannon .

Online records show 31-year-old Nicholas Kron entered the plea earlier this week. Kron, currently of Nashville, Tennessee, played defensive end for the Cyclones in 2012 and 2013.

On May 23rd of 2021 Kron and Bohannon were reportedly arguing outside of DC’s on the Ped Mall  after it had closed for the night. According to police, Kron sucker-punched Bohannon three times in the back of the head, knocking him down and causing a cut.

Bohannon was removed from the scene by three friends and taken to a local hospital for treatment.  University of Iowa officials would later say Bohannon suffered a “serious head injury”.

Video of the incident shows Bohannon was turned away from Kron at the time the punches were thrown.

Kron was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail. Terms of the plea deal have not been released. Sentencing is set for May 4th.
