An Iowa City transient who has a laundry list of car burglary convictions has been charged in yet another case.
Iowa City Police say surveillance video captured 21-year-old Jeiden Fair breaking into a vehicle on the 1600 block of Crosby Lane just after 8:15pm on February 20th. Fair has family in the area of the reported incident, and he has a history of burglarizing motor vehicles. Police say he was also seen on the video wearing the same clothing as when they made contact with him for a separate theft investigation days later.
Fair was taken into custody around 8:30 Thursday night on the 600 block of Hollywood Boulevard. Police say he struggled against officers, and he refused to let go of a meth pipe he had taken out of his coat.
Fair is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle – 2nd or Subsequent Offense, Interference With Official Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over five years in prison.
Fair was arrested last week after allegedly burglarizing cars on the 1400 block of Plum Street. He is also awaiting charges that he burglarized cars on Paddock Circle last month.
