Numerous local fire agencies responded to a blaze near Hills late Tuesday night.
The Hills Fire Department was joined by firefighters from Lone Tree, Riverside, Kalona, Tiffin and West Branch in responding to a building fire at 5006 Oak Crest Hill Road SE just before 11pm. The building is owned by Hansen Asphalt and under lease to a commercial spray foam company.
Initial dispatch advised a 6-stall shop was on fire. While firefighters were enroute, Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies already on the scene reported fire with several small explosions from inside the building.Hills firefighters arrived to find a large 4-bay commercial building with flames and smoke showing with a significant fire in the southern portion of the building from two sides of the structure.The fire was brought under control within an hour. The southern half of the building is considered a complete loss of building and contents, with the northern half having heavy smoke damage along with fire and heat damage.
No injuries were reported. The cause is still under investigation.
