A convicted Coralville sex offender is facing a registry violation after allegedly absconding from Hope House last year.

Iowa City Police say 40-year-old Jonathan Gordon was released from the Johnson County Jail into the custody of the Coralville facility on December 21st. His address was changed to Hope House in the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Gordon allegedly absconded from the Holiday Road facility that night. He was arrested on February 5th after he allegedly attacked a teenage girl at the Iowa Lodge on the Coralville Strip, pulled her to a secluded area and tried to sexually assault her. He was charged with 3rd Degree Harassment and Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse. If convicted on both counts, Gordon could face up to 25 months in prison.

Gordon now faces an additional charge of violating the state’s Sex Offender Registry, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in jail.
