Alleged crack dealer arrested after undercover drug purchase at IC apartment complex

An alleged crack dealer has been arrested following a sting by Iowa City Police.

According to arrest records, an undercover officer purchased 40 grams of crack cocaine from 46-year-old Savoy Cummings at his residence at the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street just after 6:15pm on February 15th.

A search warrant executed on Cummings’ residence on Friday morning allegedly turned up marijuana, ecstasy pills and a handgun. Cummings is a convicted felon out of Illinois, making him ineligible to carry a firearm.

Cummings is charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon, a Controlled Substance Violation and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 17 years in prison.
