Charges have been dismissed against an Iowa City bar owner accused of serving already-intoxicated patrons in his establishment.

Court records show two charges of Providing Alcohol to an Intoxicated Person were dropped against Pints owner Douglas Meek on Tuesday. The 52-year-old Meek could have faced up to 60 days in jail if convicted on both charges.

Iowa City Police claim on the afternoon of October 14th they found Meek and another subject passed out inside the bar while heavily intoxicated. Security video reportedly shows Meek and the other subject consuming shots and alcoholic seltzers which Meek later reportedly admitted to serving.

Police returned to Pints for a follow-up interview at 9:30 that night. They say they encountered Meek again heavily intoxicated and drinking from a glass of vodka that he had allegedly served himself.

Last month Meek was given a deferred judgement on charges that he served underage patrons at the Clinton Street bar after hours last November, then later tried to sneak a substance believed to be cocaine into the Johnson County Jail.
