An Iowa City transient who has a laundry list of car burglary convictions was allegedly caught in the act once again Wednesday afternoon.

Iowa City Police say a woman saw 21-year-old Jeiden Fair going through her father’s car as it was parked on Paddock Circle just after 4:45pm. The woman took video of Fair, which police used to identify him a short time later when he was taken into custody on Lakeside Drive near Sycamore Street.

The woman reported $80, two credit cards and a jacket were missing from the vehicle. Police say those items were not found on Fair’s person at the time of his arrest.

Fair is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle – 2nd or Subsequent offense. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.

Fair has had multiple previous car burglary and theft convictions.
