IC drug raid leads to numerous charges

A drug raid earlier this month has led to multiple charges against an Iowa City resident.

28-year-old Jasper Washington was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:15 Thursday night. Iowa City Police executed a search warrant on Washington’s Dearborn Street residence just before 5:45pm on February 4th.The search reportedly turned up 453 grams of marijuana, over 30 THC cartridges, 11.63 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging materials, drug ledgers, and a loaded Taurus G2C handgun. Washington has a domestic abuse conviction on his record, making him ineligible to possess a firearm.

Washington is charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Domestic Abuser, two Controlled Substance Violations and two Drug Tax Stamp Violations. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.
