State patrol identifies fatalities in weekend Muscatine County accident

The Iowa State Patrol has identified the three fatalities in a Muscatine County accident this past weekend.

According to the initial report, a 2019 Toyota Highlander was traveling eastbound on highway F70, with a 2012 Ram Pickup heading northbound on Highway 38 Sunday afternoon around 2:25 pm.

The Highlander failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by the Ram.

Three people in the Highlander died in the accident. They have been identified as 47-year-old Sidonie Lubanda of North Liberty; 63-year-old Petronele Bolombelo of Coralville, and 58-year-old Sophie Matand of Iowa City. The driver, 57-year-old Louis Labanda of North Liberty, and three juveniles were injured in the accident.

The two people in the Ram were injured. They have been identified as 60-year-old Jorge Andrade of Muscatine, the driver; and 62-year-old Elvira Andrade, the passenger.

All injured parties were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics; their conditions have not been released.

The accident remains under investigation.
