A Norwalk man has been taken into custody after allegedly committing sexual abuse on an underage girl at a North Liberty residence six years ago.

According to the criminal complaint, Ashton Barker committed the sex acts over multiple years, and involved clothed and unclothed contact with genitalia involving the girl, who reportedly was 13 at the time of the first encounter.

Police say the abuse began in April of 2017 when Barker was 15 and continued through the end of 2019. Barker allegedly admitted to the acts when interviewed by officers.

Warrants were issued on February 10th; Barker was arrested Tuesday afternoon and faces one count of  3rd degree Sexual Abuse for the acts in 2017 and two counts of 3rd degree Sexual Abuse of a Child Victim who was a member of the same household for the incidents in 2018 and 2019. If convicted on all counts, Barker could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

A no-contact order was requested between Barker and the victim.
