Cedar Rapids police make arrests in store robberies

Cedar Rapids Police have arrested three individuals in connection with two related weekend robberies.

In a release from the City, officers investigated early Saturday morning robbery complaints at a convenience store in the 1600 block of 32nd St NE, followed by a similar incident at a grocery store in the 800 block of 6th St SW.

No injuries were reported at site of the first robbery, but there was a minor injury sustained by a victim at the second.  Suspect and vehicle descriptions matched witness statements, and officers located the suspect vehicle and the three suspects a short time later.

Following interviews with Officers and Investigators, three teens were arrested.

19-year-old Chloe Parrish was charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree Robbery, as was 18 year old Janiah Jones. A minor, 17-year-old Ja’niva Schexnayder, was charged with one count of 2nd degree robbery. The release notes that by law, an arrest of a juvenile for a forcible felony can be released publicly.

Each count is a Class C felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted.

The investigation is ongoing.
