A Cedar Rapids woman was arrested after it was discovered she obtained credit card information from a guest at the hotel in which she was working, and used it to order food for herself.

Police say the afternoon of Feburary 5th, 33-year-old Jyoti Butler-Mills of 12th Street Southwest was working at the Sleep Inn on Madison Avenue in North Liberty. She reportedly wrote the victim’s credit card information down while she was checking him in. Butler-Mills then allegedly ordered Jimmy Johns and had it delivered to the hotel a few minutes after the victim checked in. The order arrived as the victim was back at the front desk asking that his room be changed.

The following day, Butler-Mills ordered food from Papa Johns and had it delivered to the front desk. When police confronted her, she allegedly admitted to writing the card information down and ordering food with it.

Butler-Mills was charged with Identity Theft and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted.
