An Iowa City man who witnesses say threatened to shoot up the Ped Mall has been given a fine.
Iowa City Police were called to East College Street in front of Wells Fargo just after 12:30 Saturday morning for a man who witnesses said pulled out a gun and threatened to kill everyone. The suspect was last seen walking towards The Graduate Hotel.
Officers caught up with 52-year-old Justin Meade of East Washington Street. He denied threatening to shoot anyone, and no gun was found on his person. However, Meade did show signs of impairment, and police say he admitted to drinking and being drunk.
Meade pleaded guilty to a Public Intoxication charge on Monday and was fined $105.
