A Muscatine woman has been arrested as part of a hit-and-run investigation.

Muscatine Police say on January 13th officers were called to the 300 block of Broadway Street for a female who had been run over by a vehicle. The initial investigation revealed that the collision had been the result of a larger disturbance where two groups of people came together for a mutual fight.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that 18-year-old Cora Lynn Reed of Park Avenue had participated in the altercation. As Reed tried to leave the area, she allegedly struck a 17-year-old female who was also partaking in the disturbance. Police say the 17-year-old was run over by the front tire of Reed’s vehicle. Reed then reportedly reversed the vehicle, running over the 17-year-old a second time. Reed then left the scene with her passenger.

Reed was charged Thursday with serious injury by vehicle – a Class D felony, and reckless driving – a misdemeanor. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of over five years in prison.
