Cedar Rapids Police arrested two men at a burglary in progress earlier this week.
According to a release from the Department, Cedar Rapids Police were dispatched to the 100 Block of 22nd St. NE for a burglary in progress at approximately 10:30 am Monday. Plain-clothes investigators were also in the area and responded to assist. Officers and investigators surrounded the home in question and the first suspect, identified as 31-year-old Dacoda Cinkan, exited the side-door of the residence and was quickly taken into custody by investigators. .
Officers then searched the residence with the assistance of a CRPD Canine Officer. A second suspect, identified as 20-year-old Ethan Caffery was located hiding in the basement and taken into custody.
Both suspects were taken to the Linn County Correctional Center on charges of Burglary 3rd Degree (Class D Felony). Caffery additionally had an unrelated warrant for his arrest.
The CRPD says the investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected.
