A Davenport man faces significant prison time after he was reportedly found operating a stolen vehicle on Interstate 80 last week.

43-year-old Dathan Luth of North Prairie Street was located Monday night just after 6:30 operating a 2015 Ford van that had been reported stolen. Upon contact, he had the odor of ingested alcohol and allegedly admitted to a deputy that he had been drinking, and was a little drunk. He also reportedly admitted that he had used meth in the past few days.

Luth allegedly told officers that he had a small bag of marijuana on him, which was found between the driver and passenger seats. He refused all field and chemical testing.

A check of Luth’s driving status showed he was barred in Iowa, and had two previous OWI convictions.

Luth was charged with 2nd degree Theft, 3rd offense OWI, Driving while Barred, and Marijuana possession. If convicted on all counts, he faces a prison term of up to 13 years.
