A transient faces charges that he mooned Iowa City Police who responded to reports that he was intoxicated and trying to provide alcohol to residents at Shelter House.
Officers were called to the Southgate Avenue shelter just before 11:45pm on September 29th for a report of 30-year-old Jeffrey Jimenez Morales trespassing on the property. Witnesses say he was attempting to give alcohol to the residents.
Jimenez Morales allegedly showed signs of intoxication, struggled to stand, and was holding an open bottle of Jack Daniels. He reportedly pulled down his pants and exposed his butt to police during the interaction.
Jimenez Morales was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Consumption of Alcohol in a Public Place. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
On Wednesday, a trial date was set for February 3rd.
