Trial has been postponed for an Iowa City man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.
36-year-old Ronald Dixon of Dover Street is accused of sexually abusing the girl over the span of approximately two years.

Dixon waived his right to a speedy trial on Friday, and Judge Paul Miller set a new trial date for June 27th. The original date was February 7th.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says the alleged victim told investigators in December of 2021 that Dixon had inappropriate sexual contact with her on multiple occasions between approximately May of 2018 and May of 2020. The girl estimates she was ten or 11 years old when the incidents took place.

Dixon is charged with two counts each of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse and Lascivious Acts With A Child. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 70 years in prison.

Also on Friday, a case management conference was set for April 14th.
