A Cedar Rapids woman who allegedly committed a theft at Coral Ridge Mall threatened a police officer with death when confronted.

Just past 11:30 Thursday morning, 36-year-old Elizabeth Leiss of 20th Avenue Southwest reportedly entered Scheels, put on several pieces of clothing, and picked up a pair of winter boots. She then allegedly exited the store while carrying the boots, and refused to stop for loss prevention.

Leiss was located by officers in the area minutes later. She reportedly admitted to having items with her, but started walking away. Leiss allegedly tried pulling away when handcuffs were put on her. Additionally, she attempted to kick the officer and made comments of killing him. The officer was not injured in the incident.

Leiss also allegedly stated she was intoxicated, which was evidenced by a post arrests PBT showing her blood-alcohol level over .20 percent.

Leiss was taken to the Johnson County Jail and charged with 2nd degree Theft, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, Interference with Official Acts, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to over three years in jail.
