The Iowa River sample results from State Hygienic Laboratory taken by the City of Iowa City Water Division in response to the C6-Zero facility explosion in Marengo on December 8th show no reportable detection of contaminants.

The analyses performed by the Lab are for compounds associated with petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel fuel.

The tests were done to assure the public that there was no impact to the Iowa City water supply. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources told city officials that waters contaminated due to the explosion were contained to a stormwater basin near the facilty.

The Water Division will continue to test the river weekly for the next three weeks.
