A Des Moines woman who was traveling with her boyfriend to pick up his daughter in Coralville was arrested after an argument between the two turned physical.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 930 Boston Way for a public assist. A woman on site asked officers if they were there for the disturbance happening in the parking lot. Authorities observed 24-year-old Sedalia Wilson sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle, yelling at two subjects outside.

Wilson told police that she and her boyfriend were coming from Des Moines to pick up his daughter ahead of the storm when an argument began. Subsequently, Wilson struck the man in the mouth, causing his lip to swell and bleed.

Wilson’s boyfriend then pulled over to the side of the road, where she reportedly began grabbing at his clothes and ripping them. Two children under the age of three were in the back seat of the vehicle during the alleged assault.

Wilson was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury and two counts of child endangerment. If convicted on the charges, she could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
