A Coralville man convicted of murder in last spring’s Taboo nightclub shooting in Cedar Rapids has been sentenced to life in prison.
Judge Andrew Chappell handed the sentence down to 28-year-old Dimione Walker on Friday.
Walker was convicted last month of shooting 25-year-old Michael Valentine at the 3rd Street SE nightclub on April 10th. The other shooter in the incident, 32-year-old Timothy Rush, is charged with fatally shooting 35-year-old Nicole Owens, the mother of his 1-year-old child, and 31-year-old Marvin Cox, who initially survived but then died July 24th from his injuries. Rush’s trial is scheduled to begin March 28th.
Walker has a criminal history in Johnson County. The most recent case was in 2017, when he aimed a gun at a woman with whom he had been arguing. Walker was sentenced to five years in prison and was on work release at the time of his arrest for the Taboo nightclub shooting. He was also charged in connection with a 2014 shooting at the Pheasant Ridge Apartments, but those charges were later dropped.
