The number of COVID-19 cases increased in Iowa for the sixth straight week, according to the most recent data.

Although the numbers are believed to be higher due to unreported positive cases discovered using at-home kits, over 3700 new cases were officially reported in the past week. That’s a 6.8 percent increase from the week before.

Johnson County reported 165 cases, just one more than the week before, while Linn County showed a decrease of about 5.5 percent.

Hospitalizations and patients in intensive care fluctuated only slightly, while the state confirmed 27 deaths from the virus in the past week. That puts the total at 10,343 Iowans who have died from COVID-19.
