Results of a new survey conducted by Kirkwood Community College shows area employers concerned about the labor pool.
KCRG TV reports that the “Skills 2024” survey gathers information about the needs in the workforce. Employers who responded to the survey say they’re concerned about the skills of candidates, the small labor pool, and recruitment and retention struggles. One of the concerns employers expressed was the absence of soft skills like work ethic and communication skills.
The report offered a number of solutions, including more active training and education of hires. It was also recommended that employers invest in employee retention strategies.
