A transient is accused of forcing himself on another transient after offering the man oral sex.
Iowa City Police say around 9:00 Saturday morning 34-year-old Alex Stevenson followed another man into a Shelter House bathroom and made two offers to perform oral sex on him. When the man refused, Stevenson allegedly grabbed at the man’s genitals.
The alleged victim yelled at Shelter House staff for help. He told arriving staffers that Stevenson had forced himself on him, and had stolen his red stocking cap. The cap was later found in Stevenson’s bag, although he denied making any sexual advances on the man.
Stevenson was arrested and charged with Assault With Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he allegedly asked a nurse to throw away his gloves because he didn’t want them anymore. A police inspection found one of the gloves contained a plastic baggie containing what is believed to be methamphetamine. A glass pipe with possible meth residue was found inside a sunglasses case with Stevenson’s belongings.
Stevenson is additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over three years in prison.
